Local Student Selected as Finalist in FMC Anthem Contest
Philadelphia – September 24, 2012 – FMC Agricultural Products Group (APG) announces that Allison Nohre, De Pere, Wis., is one of four finalists in the "Stand &Be Heard Anthem Singing Contest." Selected by popular online vote, Nohre now hopes to win the grand prize of a $10,000 college scholarship. Voting begins online at www.FMCcrop.com/contest today through October19 with the grand prize winner announcement on Oct. 24
"When I first found out about the Anthem Contest, I had to give it a try. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, I had no idea how to react when I found out I was a finalist," said Nohre. "I’m fortunate to be a part of this is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Nohre recently traveled to Nashville to rerecord her rendition of the national anthem with a music producer as well as talk about her experience in the FMC Anthem Contest. The interviews and performances will be aired on RFD-TV on Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. CDT.
"The broadcast on RFD-TV will give the public a chance to get to know the four finalists," said Timothy Thompson, product manager, FMC APG. "I look forward to hearing these young people’s stories about how agriculture has influenced their lives already."
Involved in FFA for the past four years, Nohre currently attends the University of Wisconsin-River Falls majoring in agriculture studies. At 18 years old, she spent her high school career serving in leadership positions in FFA, including president for two years and officer for three years. She also participated in the National and Wisconsin State FFA Bands.
From March through mid-July, more than 170 entries were received from agricultural students representing 34 states. Entrants of the "Stand & Be Heard Anthem Singing Contest" included members of national ag-related student organizations, such as FFA, 4-H or student NAMA chapters, with a background and interest in agriculture or agribusiness. Voting will be open to anyone beginning Sept. 24 by logging on to www.FMCcrop.com/contest.
